Big Play Breakdown: Eagles at Colts

The Eagles needed another second-half comeback to pull off their second win of the season. This one involved much more drama and a lot of critical plays late in the game.

Darren Sproles stole the show, but it was Malcolm Jenkins and Nick Foles adding their own key plays to the film this week.

Here is this week's big play breakdown.

Sproles run starts as a simple sweep route to the right. But as Sproles starts to turn ahead, there are three players with angles for the tackle. Jeremy Maclin picks up his block on the sideline, but all three players are able to make their way to Sproles. That's when Sproles turns into a human pinball and somehow stays on his feet to score.

There are two focal points to this play and they are not involving Jenkins. Jenkins reads the play well based on Andrew Luck's line of vision. He's looking in T.Y. Hilton's direction the whole play. Obviously, there is something else that comes into play: the near hold on Brandon Boykin as he comes together with Hilton. It's important to see that Hilton is four yards past the line of scrimmage on this 3rd and 5 play. That five-yard marker is easy to identify. No flag is thrown and the interception becomes a total game-changer.

The veteran linemen do it again on this play. Todd Herremans comes across to take out potential tackle after 10 yards. Then Jason Kelce leads the way to open the pass even further for Sproles to power through. He's eventually tackled at the six, but this 51-yard chunk set up the game-tying touchdown.

Nick Foles six-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Maclinvideo

With a two wide receiver, two tight end set, Maclin runs a cross route but manages to gain isolation from his defenders. Brent Celek draws two defenders moving to the left, Zach Ertz keeps the safeties to stay at the back of the endzone and LeSean McCoy draws a linebacker forward to put single coverage on Maclin. By the time Foles spots Maclin, he's open by a couple of steps. It's a perfect throw from Foles that allows Maclin to make the catch on the run and fall into the endzone.
