Flyers, goalie coach Jeff Reese part ways

The Flyers announced on Friday that they have "parted ways" with goaltending coach Jeff Reese.

Ron Hextall called the move a "mutual decision," suggesting that Reese was not fired by the team.

Reese was the Flyers goaltending coach for six seasons, through trying times with Ilya Bryzgalov, the Flyers Stanley Cup run in 2010 with Brian Boucher and Michael Leighton and has been credited for Steve Mason's revival.

Hextall, head coach Craig Berube and the Flyers will not comment further on Reese's departure.

Reese released the following statement upon leaving the team.

I’d like to thank the Flyers' organization for the opportunity to help coach the Flyers for the past six seasons.

I’ve enjoyed my time here and I wish the Flyers all the success in the world. Having said that, I would appreciate it if the media would respect my privacy as I will not be making any further comment.”
