Philadelphia Eagles Scouting Report: DE Brian Mihalik

With their final selection of the 2015 NFL Draft, the Eagles kept the focus on defense.

Brian Mihalik was selected 237th overall out of Boston College.

Mihalik is 6'9" – yes, you read that correctly – and 295 pounds.

Here's more on the newest Eagles defensive end.

Mihalik was a starter in his final two seasons at Boston College, posting 58 tackles, including 11 1/2 for loss and 6 1/2 sacks.

Obviously, what stands out about Mihalik is his size and it does play in his favor. His length is incredible, and while he could afford to add weight, his arm length allows him to make plays on the line.

He's more suited for the 3-4 defense and is definitely a player that will need to make strides during practice and in the offseason. His blocking needs work and doesn't have an overpowering move at the line.

That said, he is incredibly athletic and the Eagles can definitely help mold his skills. His size is his biggest advantage and if he continues to add strength and work on his abilities to get off the line and pressure the opposition, he could turn into a success.

As is the case with most late-round picks, it could take a year on the practice squad before Mihalik gets a real chance.
