Ed Snider honored at Global Sports Summit

Flyers chairman Ed Snider added yet another accomplishment to his resume on Monday, as he received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Global Sports Summit in Aspen, Colo.

Held annually since 2011, the Global Sports Summit gathers owners from the four major North American sports leagues, as well as European soccer clubs. The conference has always been held in Aspen since its inception.

The award is presented annually to a distinguished team owner that has made significant contributions to their team, league and community over an extended period of time. Snider was honored not just for his long-standing work with the Flyers, but for the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation as well. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman presented Snider with the award.

Snider's work with Snider Hockey was previously recognized in April as the Philadelphia Business Journal's Philanthropist of the Year. He was also inducted to the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011, the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame in 2005 and the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1988.
