Morgan eyes 5th victory, series win over Padres

Philadelphia, PA – Having won six consecutive games against the San Diego Padres (62-66) at Citizens Bank Park, the Philadelphia Phillies (51-78) will send rookie southpaw Adam Morgan to the mound for his 12th career start with their sights set on a series victory.

Rea, 25, was promoted from Triple-A El Paso on August 11 after the Padres moved right hander Odrisamer Despaigne to the bullpen.

Over three career starts, all of which have occurred at Petco Park in San Diego, Rea is 2-1 with a 5.52 ERA, 1.432 WHIP ratio and a 12/4 strikeout-to-walk ratio spanning 14 2/3 innings.

Morgan, 25, last faced the Padres on August 8 where he tossed six, strong innings of one-run baseball on only 79 pitches.

The southpaw is coming off of his worst start to date, allowing five earned runs on seven hits in just 3 2/3 innings last Monday against the New York Mets.
