Flyers ink Philippe Myers to entry-level deal

The Flyers added another defensive prospect to the mix hours before their first preseason game on Monday, as they signed Philippe Myers to an entry-level contract.

Myers, 18, had joined on with the team as a training camp invitee. He's currently in his third season with the QMHJL's Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, where he's played two games this season.

Through 108 games with the Huskies, Myers has registered two goals, 10 points and a plus/minus rating of minus-4. The 6-foot-5, 209-pound blueliner has also logged 68 penalty minutes in his junior career, 55 of which came last season.

Considering the multitude of young defensive talent that the Flyers have in their pipeline, he's not likely to crack their top-six in the next few seasons. He'll finish this season with the Huskies, giving Flyers management a further look at his development in the junior ranks.

He's also not to be confused with Phil Myre, one of the goalies who helped backstop the Orange and Black to their 35-game unbeaten streak in 1979-80.
