Report: Eagles considered benching DeMarco Murray, usage Sunday unknown

The Eagles have decided to dress four running backs for Sunday's game against the Bills, but that was almost not the case.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Eagles considered benching DeMarco Murray in light of his "meeting" with owner Jeffrey Lurie.

According to Rapoport, Murray spoke of both Chip Kelly and running back coach Duce Staley to Lurie on the plane ride, and said both were unapproachable. Rapoport claims that the Eagles weighed every option, including the possibility of benching the defending rushing champion. Murray is dressed for the game, but Rapoport said to expect Darren Sproles to be the featured back for the second straight week.

In Rapoport's report, he mentioned how Murray will be the fourth running back on the depth chart behind Sproles, Ryan Mathews and Kenjon Barner.

So whatever happened on that plane ride back from New England is far from resolved, as the Murray saga continues for another week.
