Report: Coughlin withdraws name from consideration for Eagles coach

A huge update has come in the Eagles pursuit of Tom Coughlin.

The veteran head coach who resigned from the head coaching position with the New York Giants and was reportedly the Eagles prime target for Thursday has now withdrawn his name from consideration for the position, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Dan Graziano of ESPN adds that Coughlin had reservations about his coaching staff in Philadelphia and decided that the position wasn't a fit.

Coughlin interviewed for the Eagles coaching job on Monday and was gaining greater consideration after the Eagles missed out on both Adam Gase and Ben McAdoo.

With Coughlin's withdrawal, the Eagles currently have three candidates with prior interviews on the table — Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Doug Pederson, interim head coach Pat Shurmur and running back coach Duce Staley.
