Report: Eagles, Fletcher Cox closing in on deal

The Eagles already busy offseason continues. After signing Zach Ertz, Brent Celek and agreeing with offensive lineman Lane Johnson on Friday morning, another deal could be nearing completion.

According to Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com, the Eagles and defensive lineman Fletcher Cox are working on a new deal and reportedly close.

Cox is set to play in his first Pro Bowl this weekend after recording 71 tackles and 9.5 sacks, both career highs, in the 2015 season.

The 6'4", 300-pound defensive lineman with the Eagles first-round draft pick, at 12th overall, in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Cox has 212 career tackles, 22 sacks, five forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries in four seasons with the Eagles.

Recently, Cox has talked about his desire to stay with the Eagles long-term and as one of the most valuable and consistent pieces on defense, the Eagles seem to share the same interest.

"I wanna be there, that's where I want to be — for the long haul," Cox said on NFL Network on Thursday. "I think the team wants me there, everyone wants me there from the owner all the way down."

With three deals already in the books, it wouldn't be shocking for the Eagles to finalize one with their defensive MVP from the 2015 season. In addition, the Eagles are also working to get a deal done with Cox's linemate Vinny Curry.
