Flyers GM Ron Hextall certainly had a long list of injuries to go through on Sunday as the Flyers prepare to wrap up a five-game road trip on Tuesday night in Carolina.
Still, as Hextall provided an update on Sunday, the news was generally positive.
Flyers captain Claude Giroux remains day-to-day with an upper-body injury. While Hextall would not confirm that it is a concussion, he did make mention that the NHL no longer has a seven-day protocol for concussions. Giroux skated on Sunday and is possible for Tuesday's game in Carolina.
Sean Couturier also skated on Sunday and is ahead of schedule. While he will be out for Tuesday's game in Carolina, his status is no day-to-day, meaning a return could be coming as soon as Thursday when the Flyers return home.
There was also good news regarding both goalies. Steve Mason left Saturday's game against Toronto in the third with what appeared to be an apparent injury. Hextall confirmed that it was simply cramping and Mason is available for Tuesday. Michal Neuvirth was also seen icing both legs after finishing Saturday's win in relief of Mason. He is also fine and available for Tuesday.
Jordan Weal is on track in his recovery from an upper-body injury and has about a week to 10 days of recovery time left.
The only bad news came for Michael Del Zotto. Del Zotto has ligament damage in his wrist and will have surgery on Feb. 26. The recovery period for the surgery is three-to-four months, meaning Del Zotto's season is over.
That said, the Flyers could be getting some bodies back in another couple of days, which is certainly good news as the Flyers pursue a playoff run down the stretch.
Though they had trimmed the gap to three points with Saturday's win, the Flyers are currently five points out of a playoff spot after Pittsburgh defeated Buffalo on Sunday.
The Flyers close out the road trip on Tuesday night against the Carolina Hurricanes. Game time is 7 p.m.
