CLEARWATER, Fla. — As the spring starts to wind down, you start to look for players who are going to be regulars to have an impact. The Phillies got that on Saturday afternoon.

Freddy Galvis homered, Odubel Herrera and Cameron Rupp drove in runs and the Phillies fought back from two deficits to carry a lead into the ninth.

But Chris Leroux surrendered a two-out, two-run single to Gustavo Nunez in the ninth, to give the Detroit Tigers the 6-5 win over the Phillies on Saturday afternoon at Bright House Field in Clearwater.

Justin Upton opened the scoring in the first by belting a two-out solo shot to left off James Russell.

The Phillies threatened in the third, moving runners to second and third with one out for Andres Blanco. Blanco flied out to right and Ryan Jackson, who led off the inning with a walk, was thrown out trying to score from third for the inning-ending double play.

The Tigers would strike again in the fourth on back-to-back hits. Upton led off the inning with a single and scored on an RBI triple by Tyler Collins.

The Phillies got on the board in their half of the fourth. Herrera led off the inning with a double to center and scored on an RBI double by Rupp to right field.

The Phillies tied things up in the fifth on a solo shot by Galvis to right.

The Tigers would retake the lead in the sixth on Upton's second home run of the day, this time to center off Luis Garcia.

Ryan Howard led off the sixth with a double and scored on a one-out sacrifice fly by Cedric Hunter.

The Phillies would take their first lead of the day in the seventh. An RBI single by Herrera scored Emmanuel Burriss from second to give the Phillies the lead. They added a second run on a fielder's choice as John Mayberry Jr.'s throw home on a ground ball by Howard was too late to get Blanco.

In the eighth, the Tigers cut into the lead with another RBI triple by Collins. With the Tigers threatening for the tying run, Bobby LaFromboise forced a sharp ground ball from Nick Castellanos to short for a 6-4-3 double play to end the inning.

Leroux flirted with danger in the ninth and the Tigers made him pay. With two outs, Nunez singled up the middle to score two, giving the Tigers a 6-5 lead.
