Brayden Schenn suspended for 3 games at start of 2016-17 season

The Flyers will already have to open the 2016-17 season without Brayden Schenn. The NHL Department of Player Safety dropped a three-game suspension on Schenn for his hit on T.J. Oshie in Sunday's Game 6 loss.

Schenn will serve the suspension for the first three games of the season.

Schenn had his hearing on Tuesday afternoon. He cited that the leading point of contact was with his shoulder.

The NHL's video explaining the ruling is below.

Schenn had a career year for the Flyers, scoring 26 goals and adding 33 assists for 59 points in 80 games. This was the final year of Schenn's contract, but the restricted free agent is expected to return with what he hopes will be a long-term deal.

The start of any new deal will be delayed by three games, as the forward will have to wait for his 2016-17 season to begin.
