Rams reportedly confirm top pick will go to Jared Goff

The top two selections in the first round of the NFL Draft have essentially been decided for a week now. With the Los Angeles Rams moving to the first overall pick and the Eagles jumping into the second selection, the top two quarterbacks in this year's Draft class, Jared Goff and Carson Wentz, were believed to be the desired prospects for the two teams.

It was just a matter of which order the two were selected. That order may now have some clarity.

About two weeks ago, the Rams were reported to have stronger interest in Goff. According to Jordan Schultz, the Huffington Post sports columnist who had the original report, that decision is now final and the Rams will select Goff with the first overall pick.

So Carson Wentz, come on down. At least it would appear that way.

The Eagles have had strong interest in the North Dakota State quarterback. They held a private workout with Wentz, as well as pretty much every quarterback in the Draft class this year, but Eagles management was seen out to dinner with Wentz in Fargo several weeks ago. Among those present were team owner Jeffrey Lurie, Howie Roseman and Doug Pederson

But apparently, their interest may have also been to select Goff. Schultz adds that the Eagles were also higher on Goff than Wentz, and that there is disappointment now that official word is out that Goff will go No. 1 to the Rams.

That said, Roseman said that the Eagles were comfortable with either quarterback, so this shouldn't sway their decision any.

Though he hails from a Division I FCS school that has claimed five straight national championships, some believe Wentz is the most NFL-ready quarterback in the Draft.

Wentz would slide in behind Sam Bradford and Chase Daniel on the Eagles roster at the quarterback position, however, Bradford was angered by the Eagles move up to the second overall pick and on Monday officially requested a trade.

Regardless, the Eagles intentions with the pick were to draft their future quarterback and it appears that everything is lining up for that pick to be Wentz.

We'll know for sure on Thursday night shortly after the Draft opens at 8 p.m.
