Turns out, even the Phillie Phanatic has jury duty!

The Phillie Phanatic came back from the Galapagos Islands this past week to join Philadelphia in celebrating Jury Appreciation Day at the Philadelphia Courts.

Court leaders in Philadelphia wanted to emphasize to citizens how important being a juror is and how valued their time in the courts truly is in the democratic process. There were a couple special jurors on hand for the celebration on Monday, including both the Phillie Phanatic and Jay Wright, the Villanova Wildcats basketball head coach.

Wright, who is also married to a lawyer, was there to talk about the significant work jurors take on and also thanked those in attendance for being a part of an important process for the community.

Wright helped lead the Wildcats to a 35-5 season (16-2 in the Big East) in his 15th year as the head coach. The 35 wins set the program record for most wins in a single-season, as well as rank the team second in the South Regional bracket for the NCAA National Tournament, where they would eventually win in dramatic fashion against the UNC Tar Heels.
