Phillies announce minor league managers, other staff promotions

The Phillies announced a large number of coaching changes at the minor league levels.   They include some familiar names in the organization, including former Phillies third baseman Charlie Hayes and long-time Phillies minor leaguer Greg Legg.

The moves fans might recognize are:

  • Jorge Velandia was named special assistant to the general manager, as did Bryan Minniti, who comes from the Arizona Diamondbacks organization.
  • Frank Cacciatore is promoted from Reading hitting coach to assistant hitting coordinator
  • Greg Legg is promoted to manager of the Double-A Reading Fightin' Phils
  • Dusty Wathan is formally announced as Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs manager
  • Shaun Williams is promoted from Class-A Lakewood to Class-A Clearwater
  • John Mizerock is promoted from Short Season Williamsport to Double-A Reading hitting coach
  • Charlie Hayes joins the Gulf Coast Phillies staff
  • Marty Malloy will manage Class-A Lakewood

Other moves include:

  • Geoff Miller is new Mental Skills Coach
  • Natan Weinberger is the new Analyst, Baseball Research & Development
  • Greg McMillan will serve as Coordinator of International Scouting
  • Rafael Alvaraez as International Scout
  • Ray Robles as Assistant Director of International OPerations
  • Orlando Munoz, Joe Betancourt, Feliberto Sanchez, and Samuel Hiciano were named the staff  in the Dominican Summer League
  • Greg Schilz comes from the Pirates to be National Scouting Coordinator
  • Will Brunson, Justin Morganstern, and Justin Munson become scouts
