Flyers to Have 4 Players on Team Canada at World Championships

The Flyers will certainly be well-represented on Team Canada at World Championships next month.

GM Ron Hextall was given the reigns to construct the team, and chose Tampa Bay head coach Jon Cooper as the team's head coach with Flyers head coach Dave Hakstol getting an assistant coaching role.

Now in choosing the players, four Flyers will be participating for Team Canada: Claude Giroux, Wayne Simmonds, Sean Couturier and Travis Konecny.

Giroux had 14 goals and 44 assists for 58 points in 82 games this season. Simmonds led the team with 31 goals and added 23 assists for 54 points in 82 games. Couturier only played in 66 games, but scored 14 goals and added 20 assists for 34 points. Konecny played in 70 games in his rookie season, scoring 11 goals and adding 17 assists for 28 points.

Giroux is making his third appearance in the World Championships, also playing in 2015 and 2013. Couturier was also a member of the team in 2015. Simmonds was part of Team Canada in 2013. 

The World Championships will take place from May 9-21 in Paris, France and Cologne, Germany.
