Rejoice! Sixers Draft Markelle Fultz With The No. 1 Overall Pick

It's official, Sixers fans. The Sixers have selected Markelle Fultz with the first overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

For the second season in a row with the first overall draft pick, the Sixers finally get their star point guard in Fultz, who will debut with last year's No. 1 Ben Simmons at the beginning of the 2017-18 season.

In an expected move after the Sixers traded up from three to one with the Boston Celtics,  the Sixers finally get their point guard, a guy that has been said to be one of the most revered number one picks in recent memory.

Fultz brings a lot to the table, including an ability to shoot from the perimeter and an elite ability to utilize the pick-and-roll (30.4% of his offense).

Fultz is also a lock to play both the point and shooting guard positions which is a perfect fit for Sixers' PG/PF Ben Simmons, and has already stated his positivity in being able to work side-to-side with Simmons and off the ball.

The Sixers now have a projected starting lineup with Simmons, Fultz, Robert Covington, Dario Saric, and Joel Embiid, which sounds remarkable and has the potential to be a real force in the Eastern Conference in the coming seasons. Of course, players staying healthy is the real key in all of this, and has been a struggle for the Sixers over the course of the last three seasons.

The Sixers started this whole draft process with the fifth overall selection and ended up moving up to No. 3 with the pick swap from the Sacramento Kings.

Then from No. 3, Bryan Colangelo netted a great deal with Boston for the No. 1 overall selection that includes a possibility of either next year's Lakers pick or the following season's Kings pick with a whole slew of protections attached to them.

Long story short, if the Sixers win the lottery next season and the following season, the Sixers would have traded just the No. 3 pick this season for Markelle Fultz straight up. Not too shabby of a deal.

For Fultz, this is just the beginning. Sixers faithful are hopeful that they will reap the benefits of "The Process," as Fultz teams up with Embiid and Simmons in order to become a competitive team, looking for that first NBA Championship since 1983.

Oh yeah, and welcome to Philadelphia, Markelle.
