Russillo: Sixers are “probably going to stink, they should trade Embiid”

By Josh Liddick, Sports Talk Philly editor

Isn't the point of media figureheads just to rile up a crowd and create controversy from the hot takes they make?

You look at the Colin Cowherds and Skip Bayless's of the world, and you get that same kind of ESPN bobblehead in Ryen Russillo.

On SportsCenter following the Sixers' 110-89 preseason loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, Russillo and Jalen Rose had a banter on their expectations for the Sixers this season, and let's just say, it wasn't satisfying.

Russillo really made an interesting statement when he said this:

"They're probably going to stink, okay? Like we need to get over the excitement of all of these new pieces. [They might win] 30 games maybe? In what world have we just penciled in a team where two guys have never played before, Fultz and Simmons, and Embiid who's still a huge question mark? If I were the Sixers, I would trade Embiid. I'm not giving him this massive contract."

Ryen, Ryen, Ryen. TRADE EMBIID? Are you out of your mind?! Injury aside, if you're the Sixers in this situation, you can't not re-sign Embiid, he's way to valuable for that.

Who knows what would happen if the Sixers moved on from Embiid and he developed success with another team. That would turn into probably the biggest disaster in Philly sports, and there's quite a long list of those.

At the end of the day, these guys can say whatever they want, but only we know our team well enough to know that this rash judgments are way out of line.

The hype is all real, and it's here, and there's plenty to be excited about around this new team.

The Ryen Russillo's of the world don't deserve the light of day on these topics, because they don't really know what they're talking about.
