Report: Colts request interview with Eagles OC Frank Reich

By Brandon Apter, Sports Talk Philly editor

The NFL season has come to a close and although the Philadelphia Eagles are on their championship tour on talk shows all over the place, there's been some high demand for coaches on their staff. Eagles quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo is reportedly a frontrunner for the Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator opening and now the Indianapolis Colts are targeting Philadelphia's offensive coordinator.

Reich joined the Eagles staff when Doug Pederson was hired as the head coach prior to the 2016-17 season. He was on the Colts' coaching staff from 2008-11 as an offensive assistant, quarterbacks coach and wide receivers coach. The Colts won't be able to interview Reich until after February 14, when the Eagles Super Bowl obligations are finished.

This news comes out less than 24 hours after Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels spurned the Colts to remain in New England, even after agreeing to terms on a contract to become their next head coach. Indianapolis had a press conference scheduled and everything but McDaniels decided not to make the move and instead return to the Patriots. Not even the coaching staff he began to bring together was in the know about McDaniels' shocking decision.
