Eagles Add Tre Sullivan to Practice Squad, Workout Paxton Lynch

Eagles fans were not happy with safety Tre Sullivan following the season opener in which he muffed a punt by kicking the ball when he should have been clearing the area.

Despite that miscue, the Eagles value what he brings as a fourth safety and have signed him to the practice squad.

Sullivan registered 16 tackles in the preseason and put out some tape last preseason with some huge hits on a couple of Green Bay Packers wide outs.

After being on the practice squad last season, Bausby was in competition to start in the slot this season, but after a great first game, Bausby made a lot of mistakes in the final three preseason games. Still, he flashed great potential making 18 tackles and was able to make some plays. The Eagles have five young corners on their 53-man roster that they are impressed with – and all are on their rookie deals. The Eagles feel confident releasing Bausby as they still have Chandon Sullivan on the practice squad as a reserve.

According to Field Yates of ESPN, the Eagles also worked out free agent and former first-round quarterback Paxton Lynch Tuesday.

Lynch was a bust for the Denver Broncos completing 79 of 128 pass attempts for only 792 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions. That doesn’t mean that Doug Pederson and QB coach Press Taylor don’t have anything to work with. The Eagles may choose to sign Lynch to the practice squad in the hopes that they can develop him into a reliable backup for Carson Wentz after Nick Foles is gone (be that via trade or free agency).
