Report: Nick Foles suffered bruised ribs in win over Redskins

By Josh Liddick, Sports Talk Philly contributor

Nick Foles had about as good of a game as you could've asked for in the Philadelphia Eagles' 24-0 victory over the Washington Redskins to conclude the regular season and clinch a playoff berth for the second year in a row.

Foles went 28-for-33 with 221 yards, a touchdown and an interception. At one point during the matchup, he tied the NFL record for most consecutive completions with 25 straight.

In the fourth quarter with the game already locked up, Foles fell awkwardly after a hit from a Redskins defender and suffered an apparent chest injury, forcing him to leave the game. He exited the game and Nate Sudfeld played the remainder of the game at quarterback, throwing a touchdown on his only pass attempt, a 22-yard completion to Nelson Agholor to give the Eagles the dagger, a 24-0 advantage to seal the deal.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Eagles believe that Nick Foles has "bruised ribs and believe he's OK."

While the injury didn't look good initially, it still seems as if the Eagles are in a good position with Foles moving forward into next weekend when they have to travel to face the red-hot Chicago Bears in the Wild Card Round.

It's important to remember that while Carson Wentz suffered a fractured vertebra a couple weeks ago, the quarterback is still technically on the active roster, as the Eagles had not placed him on injured reserve as a safety net for if something did indeed happen to Nick Foles as quarterback. Going by Schefter's report, Foles' injury doesn't appear to be serious but the Eagles will likely still be cautious with the QB during practice this week.
