Leading up to the Eagles matchup with the Chicago Bears on Sunday, Sports Talk Philly and Eagledelphia will compare the personnel of the two teams each day until gameday is here.

In this edition of our week-long comparison we will look at the quarterbacks that the Bears and Eagles will field on Sunday.

Chicago QBs | Mitchell Trubisky, Chase Daniel

The Bears traded away two third-round and a fourth-round pick in 2017 in order to move up one spot in the draft to pick Trubisky with the second overall pick. When they did so, they expected he would become an elite player. The sophomore quarterback has a quarterback rating of 96.0 and has thrown for 3,223 yards, 24 touchdowns and 12 interceptions this season.

While Trubisky has played some great games, he has lacked the consistency needed to reach an elite level. One week he could throw for 354 yards and six touchdowns without an interception but the next he could throw for only 110 with only one touchdown but three interceptions.

Daniel, a former Eagle, is experiences and well traveled. Trubisky missed a couple weeks with injury earlier this season and Daniel earned a quarterback rating of 90.6 while throwing for 515 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. Daniel will not ruin a game if he comes in, but he is no more than a good back-up.

Philadelphia QBs | Carson Wentz, Nick Foles, Nate Sudfeld

The Eagles have depth, but it is being testing with their top two quarterbacks suffering from injuries. The injuries are not severe enough that either has been placed on IR and news could break at any time about a development, positive or negative, on either.

Carson Wentz started much of the season, but never fully got over his ACL and MCL tears from last season. It turns out he was also suffering from a stress fracture in his back. Despite that, Wentz earned a quarterback rating of 102.2 this season. He threw for 3,074 yards, 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions. While not officially ruled out, it seems unlikely Wentz will play against the Bears.

Super Bowl LII MVP, Nick Foles has taken control of the offense with Wentz sidelined. He has earned of 93.4 and has thrown for 1,413 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions. While his touchdown to interception ratio isn’t great, he effectively moves the chains and has gotten the ball down field enough that the running backs ended up getting some touchdowns that could easily have been Foles’. Foles lead a team that was considered out of contention into a playoff spot with his point guard like mentality of spreading the ball around and his willingness to throw deep shots down the field if his receivers are in position to make a play. The biggest issue with Foles is that he has now left the last two games with injury. While he was announced as the starter, how long he will be able to remain in the game is uncertain.

Nate Sudfeld is in just his third year in the league and his second with the team. He is a mobile quarterback who has a tendency to use his legs. He has seen almost no real game action outside of the final game of the 2017 season. In his two appearances this season, he has completed one of two passes for 22 yards and a touchdown, but spent far more time simply handing the ball off to run out the clock.

Edge

This is perhaps the most difficult position to diagnose for both teams between Trubisky being a boom-or-bust type player and the Eagles having injuries to their top two players.

While Nick Foles has proven he can be clutch, his injury could force in a quarterback with almost no game experience and only three years of sitting on the bench. While Sudfeld has some talent, it is not on the level of Trubisky or, at this point, even Chase Daniel.

Trubisky being young and having a bad day could end up giving the Eagles the advantage at the position, but, with the health scares Philadelphia keeps seeing at the position, Chicago takes the edge.
