Stolarz Blanks Rangers, Flyers Streak Hits 5

By Kevin Durso, Sports Talk Philly editor

The Flyers carried a four-game winning streak and wins in five of the last six games into New York on Tuesday. In each of the six games, Carter Hart was in goal.

Hart earned a much-deserved break on Tuesday. His backup didn't do too bad.

Anthony Stolarz led the Flyers to a fifth straight win, making 38 saves in a 1-0 shutout win over the Rangers.

The Flyers jumped on the board early in the first. Oskar Lindblom was able to locate a rebound and lift it past Alexandar Georgiev to make it 1-0 just 1:40 into the game.

The Flyers carried the play early, but midway through the first, the momentum shifted in the Rangers favor and stayed there for the rest of the game.

After the Rangers held a slim 13-12 lead in shots after the first, the Flyers were held to seven shots on goal in the final two periods. Stolarz made 12 saves in the second and 13 saves in the third period, many of them 10-bell saves to keep the Flyers in the lead, including several point-blank chances on Chris Kreider. The Rangers also hit a couple of posts along the way.

The win for the Flyers is their fifth straight and sixth in the last seven games, continuing a hot streak that started before the All-Star break. They carry that streak into Boston to face the Bruins on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
