Former Phillies 3B/LF Cody Asche Inks Minor-League Deal

While Matt Klentak acquired an All-Star-caliber catcher on Thursday, the Los Angeles Dodgers signed one former Philadelphia Phillies player to a minor-league contract, according to BBWAA member J.P. Hoornstra — 3B/LF Cody Asche.

The signing reportedly does not include an invitation to spring training.

Asche, 28, logged 371 games with the Phillies from 2013 to 2016, producing 70 doubles, 31 home runs, 125 RBI, 92 walks, 310 strikeouts and a .240/.298/.385 slash line over 1,287 plate appearances. The St. Charles, Missouri, native was once thought to be the club's future third baseman.

After leaving the Phillies in December 2016, Asche has since donned uniforms for the Chicago White Sox, Kansas City Royals, New York Yankees and New York Mets; he has only seen big-league action, however, in 19 games with Chicago in 2017 (.105/.177/.175).
