Former Eagles Nick Foles and Jordan Hicks signed deals with their new teams on Wednesday when free agency began. A day later, another Eagles star has found a new home.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Giants are signing Tate to a four-year deal.

The Eagles traded a third-round pick for Tate in the middle of the 2018 season, but he received limited playing time. In that limited regular season time, he managed just 30 catches for a minor 278 yards. He also had quite a few drops and fumbled the ball twice. He proved he was worth the pick that the Eagles moved for him in the wild card round of the playoffs as he made five receptions for 46 yards, including both a massive 28-yard grab where he knowingly took a massive hit and the touchdown reception that put the Birds ahead for good.
Tate was never returning with Alshon Jeffery, Nelson Agholor and DeSean Jackson forming the most expensive wide receiving corps in the league behind only the Cleveland Browns.
While counter-intuitive, this is a deal that should make Eagles fans happy.
Not only does this show the Giants’ lack of awareness by showing their refusal to commit to a rebuild, but it helps the compensatory pick forumlas.
Tate’s $9.375 million average annual value should net the Eagles a fourth-round comp pick. That will go nicely with the third-round pick for Nick Foles and the fourth-round pick for Jordan Hicks.
At the same time, the signing eliminates a fifth-round comp pick the Giants could have gotten for Jamon Brown.
Questionably, Tate told the world he was worried about winning in the late stages of his career. Apparently, that was a bold-faced lie as the Giants are arguably the worst roster in the entire league.
