The Philadelphia 76ers on Monday afternoon announced the Blue X White Scrimmage will take place on Saturday Oct. 5 and will be held for the first time at the 76ers Fieldhouse in Wilmington, Delaware.

The 76ers are proud of their multipurpose facility in Delaware and are clearly making efforts to increase their brand in that state. The Fieldhouse is also the home of the team's G-League affiliate, the Blue Coats.

"The intimate environment continues our tradition of creating the perfect atmosphere to introduce the team, " head coach Brett Brown said. "By having this game at the home of the Blue Coats, it shows the important partnership we have with the G-League program in Wilmington, Delaware."

Part of the reason, reportedly, why the 76ers have made the decision to move the Scrimmage to Delaware is to be able to place it at a venue that can accommodate a higher amount of people.

"It has grown in the sense where it’s harder and harder to provide as many seats to the demand that’s out there,” team president Chris Heck said, via Paul Hudrick of NBC Sports Philadelphia. “It was really important for us to move it down to Delaware this year because our fan base in the first state is so strong and so close to Philadelphia as well. This is the perfect opportunity to re-launch the Fieldhouse, by bringing Joel Embiid, Al Horford, Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris and the likes of all our team, including Brett Brown, back down to Delaware to launch our season."

With so many new faces this season for the 76ers, fans will certainly be anxious to get a glimpse of players like Josh Richardson, Al Horford, Matisse Thybulle and many others stepping onto the court in a Sixers uniform for the first time.

The Scrimmage, which usually occurs in either the Palestra or Temple University, is being held in Delaware for the first time, and Heck said the organization is unsure of what the plans are regarding the Scrimmage's location in the future.

"We haven't thought that far in advance," Heck said, via an article by the Inquirer's Keith Pompey. "There are scheduling conflicts and everything else. But it's [a 76ers presence in Delaware] a high priority for us."

The Scrimmage will take place the day after the 76ers' final day of training camp. The team also announced the dates for both their Media Day as well as their training camp. Media Day will take place on Monday Sept. 30 and training camp will follow it from Tuesday Oct. 1 through Friday Oct. 4.
