Flyers Call Up F Joel Farabee, Mikhail Vorobyev; Twarynski Down to Phantoms

The Flyers have had problems finishing on opportunities. That was a reason that Joel Farabee wasn’t on the final roster on Oct. 1. Farabee seemingly had countless chances to score in the preseason only to leave with no goals or points.

When he made it to Lehigh Valley to start his pro career, he went viral with his stellar first professional goal in his debut. He scored in each of his next two games as well. On Saturday, in his fourth AHL game, he had an assist on Morgan Frost’s first professional goal. It’s evident that confidence was building.

An impressive start in the AHL may have him making his NHL debut. Farabee was called up by the Flyers on Sunday along with forward Mikhail Vorobyev. Forward Carsen Twarynski was sent down to the Phantoms.

The 19-year-old forward made a lot of noise in his first training camp, being one of the final cuts from the roster and fitting in with playing partners like Sean Couturier and Claude Giroux. Farabee’s strong play early in his AHL career certainly turned heads and have earned him a chance on the big club.

Vorobyev was cut much earlier in training camp, but has performed well early with the Phantoms. In five games with the Phantoms, Vorobyev has two goals and two assists.

Twarynski had some moments in his first six games at the NHL level, including scoring his first NHL goal in Vancouver. He goes to the Phantoms, where he scored 10 goals and had 24 points last season.

Both Farabee and Vorobyev will be available and would be expected to play against Vegas on Monday night as the Flyers look to snap a four-game losing streak.
