Report: Kapler Will Interview for San Francisco Vacancy

The Phillies let manager Gabe Kapler go 11 days after the conclusion of the season.  The San Francisco Giants, meanwhile, knew before game one of 162 that manager Bruce Bochy would be retiring from the Giants at season's end?  Might there be a match for Kapler in San Francisco?

According to Jon Heyman of Fancred Sports, Kapler will interview for the open post:

Many saw this coming well in advance.

Kapler is said to be close to new San Francisco Giants president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi.  The two worked together in the Los Angeles Dodgers front office prior to Kapler taking a job with the Phillies and Zaidi taking his post with the Giants.  Even last summer when some speculated that if Kapler would be dismissed, the Giants would come calling.

The rebuilding Giants might be a better fit for Kapler, as the always-positive Kapler could help develop a young team.  The Phillies, in win-now mode, are turning to experienced managerial candidates for interviews.  The names reported include Joe Girardi, Dusty Baker, and Buck Showalter.
