The Flyers scored three goals in the third period to beat the New York Rangers, 4-2, on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden.
The Flyers are once again facing the New York Rangers, who they beat in overtime, 4-3, on Monday, this time from Madison Square Garden. The opening face-off is set for 7 p.m.
Flyers forward Scott Laughton suffered a lower-body injury at practice on Wednesday and will be out three-to-four weeks. Defenseman Brandon Manning has also not played recently due to an upper-body injury and is listed week-to-week.
The Flyers roster was trimmed down to 26 on Wednesday and with both Ivan Provorov and Travis Konecny still on the roster, the possibility of one or both of them making the Flyers final roster looks as good as ever before.
The Flyers announced that forward Taylor Leier and defenseman Sam Morin have been assigned to the Phantoms and at noon, forward Colin McDonald will clear waivers and report to the Phantoms as well. McDonald was placed on waivers on Tuesday.
After watching a three-goal lead disappear, it was Jake Voracek who used a tremendous individual effort to give the Flyers a 4-3 win over the New York Rangers on Monday night at Wells Fargo Center.
With the Flyers roster now down to 32, the last three games of the preseason are about narrowing down the final 23 that will make the roster for opening night. Among the players still around trying to make the team are Ivan Provorov and Travis Konecny.
On Sunday, the Flyers sent Travis Sanheim to the Phantoms and returned Philippe Myers to his junior team, Rouyn-Noranda, and waived defenseman Will O’Neill. The roster is at 31 with three preseason games remaining.
Goals by Danton Heinin and Jake Debrusk in the shootout helped the Bruins beat the Flyers, 4-3, on Saturday night at Wells Fargo Center.
