With final cuts approaching, it’s fairly easy to start reading between the lines and deciphering who is ahead in the roster battles. An update from Flyers training camp with notes on the roster, injuries and more.

A pair of quick goals got the Flyers right back into it midway through the period, but just like Monday, the Flyers couldn’t completely recover and fell short, dropping the final preseason game at home to the Rangers, 4-2, on Thursday night at Wells Fargo Center.

There was more clarity in the Flyers lines at practice as the preseason winds down. Also, the Flyers released a statement regarding Jori Lehtera and updated injuries.

The Flyers reduced the roster by two players, sending defenseman Phil Myers and forward Nicolas Aube-Kubel to the Phantoms, GM Ron Hextall announced on Tuesday.

The competition for the final spots has entered the final week of the preseason, which includes three more games for the Flyers. The first is on Monday night at Wells Fargo Center, as the Flyers take on the Boston Bruins.

The Philadelphia Flyers have completed one week and five games in the preseason. The roster is down to 35 players with three games remaining and roster battles are heating up.

The goalies are the leading topic at camp now with Alex Lyon and now Neuvirth dealing with injuries. Brian Elliott is also working his way back from an injury. GM Ron Hextall provided an update on Sanheim on Monday, and the prognosis was fairly positive. Sanheim will miss one week with the injury.
