Defenseman David Schlemko was placed on waivers by the Flyers on Sunday for the purposes of terminating contract. The team will buy him out.
One day after they acquired defenseman Matt Niskanen from the Capitals for Radko Gudas, they officially placed defenseman Andrew MacDonald on waivers for purposes of a buyout. MacDonald is expected to clear waivers and have the contract bought out, making him a free agent.
The weekend provided fodder for many different topics as the trade deadline approaches, from the Flyers acquisition of Cam Talbot, to Wayne Simmonds’ deadline fate, to signs of a possible moving on from Shayne Gostisbehere.
GM Chuck Fletcher said that both Schlemko and Froese will report to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and that left the Flyers with 12 forwards and six defensemen on the roster. To add to the roster, the Flyers called up defenseman Phil Myers from the Phantoms.
