A breakdown of the seven game series between the Philadelphia Phillies and Miami Marlins, including potential pitching matchups and playoff implications.
The Phillies and Toronto Blue Jays are set to play a doubleheader at Sahlen Field in Buffalo, NY with game one beginning at 1:07 pm ET. Spencer Howard and Vince Velasquez are set to start the games.
After playing the best game of their season Friday night, the Phillies (4-4) will host another seven-inning doubleheader Sunday against the NL East rival Atlanta Braves (9-6) with second place in the NL East on the line.
For the first time in Phillies (1-3) franchise history, the team will be playing a doubleheader comprised of two seven inning games. Both games against the New York Yankees (8-1) will be played in a mostly-empty Citizens Bank Park, however, the teams will split home team duties as the Phillies will play the “road” team in the first game and the “home” team for the second. Game one is scheduled to begin at 4:05 with game two starting roughly 35 minutes after game one concludes.
