MLB, Phillies to switch from Majestic to Under Armour uniforms in 2020

Major League Baseball and the Phillies will be making a big change in 2020. Aesthetically, that is.

As first reported by Terry Lefton of Sports Business Daily, and then confirmed by ESPN.com's Darrell Rovell, the MLB has made an agreement with Under Armour to have them start producing their uniforms for the 2020 season and beyond.

The decision will make Under Armour the maker of all thirty MLB team's jerseys, and will take over for Majestic, the local Easton, Pennsylvania manufacturer, who has been producing jerseys since 2005.

While Under Armour will produce the on-field apparel, Fanatics, a growing team apparel company, will team up with UA and handle the fan apparel exclusively.

The change will make the MLB the final league out of the "Big Four" in America to change to a major jersey manufacturer. The NHL was the last "Big Four" league to make a jersey manufacturer change in 2015, when they switched from Reebok threads to Adidas.

Under Armour has been known to dramatically change uniforms, especially in the college football world.

It has yet to be reported whether or not the Phillies will be changing their uniform look, which added a red alternate for business persons specials to their otherwise classic cycle of jerseys prior to the 2016 season.
