Thompson makes Philly debut to open alumni weekend

The Phillies open alumni weekend by welcoming Hall of Fame bound slugger Jim Thome to the Wall of Fame. Other old friends such as Placido Polanco and Randy Wolf will be having their own events as well, celebrating their careers in red pinstripes.
On top of the festivities is Jake Thompson making his home debut. Thompson as we know made his major league debut last Saturday and it was pretty much one to forget where he allowed seven hits and six runs through 5.1 innings. He showed some good signs here and there so here's hoping he gets some better results now that the first one is out of the way.
For the Rockies, Jon Gray gets the ball. Gray, like many of his fellow Rockies pitchers, has had a nice go of it on the road but has struggles at home. He got blasted pretty good on Sunday where the Marlins touched him up for ten hits and eight runs through 3.2 innings. It's safe to say both Thompson and Gray, who are pretty well thought of pitchers, are seeking good results on a hot night in Philadelphia this evening.
Peter Bourjos returns to the lineup following a stint on the DL. Bourjos with be batting 8th and playing left field. Ryan Howard who has been on a bit of a role lately starts at first. Cameron Rupp is behind the dish.
