Report: Sixers offered Manu Ginobli $30 million deal

The Philadelphia 76ers have made it no secret that they would like to add veterans to roster of young talent. After agreeing to deals with Jerryd Bayless and Gerald Henderson, the Sixers had their eye on a more notable veteran, Spurs guard Manu Ginobli. Adrian Wojnorowski of The Vertical podcast originally reported that Philadelphia had forced San Antonio to pay up for Ginobli, who was apparently offered a contract by the Sixers in the neighborhood of $30 million over two years.

Ginobili ended up resigning with the Spurs for a one-year contract worth $14 million, which is $11 million more than their original offer of one-year, $3 million. 

The 38-year-old has spent all 14 of his NBA seasons with the Spurs, averaging 14 points, four assists and 3.7 rebounds per game, shooting 45 percent from the floor. This past season, in 58 games, Ginobli averaged 9.6 points and 3.1 assists, shooting over 45 percent.

Ginobli is a two-time All-Star and he won the Sixth Man Award in 2007-08. He was a part of four Spurs championship teams in 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2014. He averaged 14.7 points per game in 197 playoff appearances.
