According to MLB.com's Alden Gonzalez, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are 'exploring the possibility' of acquiring Philadelphia Phillies' second baseman Chase Utley.

Gonzalez later added that he is not sure to 'what degree' the Angels are interested in Utley. Also noted, 28-year-old second baseman Johnny Giavotella is batting .320 this month, but Utley is a left handed bat who can also be utilized at first base.

Perhaps talks are not as advanced with the San Francisco Giants as we thought. Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY reports that Utley will 'ultimately choose' between the Angels and the Chicago Cubs.

Time will tell where the long-time Phillies' second baseman will land, when and if he is dealt.
