A little over three weeks ago, Phillies president, David Montgomery, spoke to the media for one of the first times since undergoing surgery on his jaw for cancer treatment. Saying he felt 'fit and ready to go', it seemed like just a matter of time before he rejoined Ruben Amaro and Pat Gillick in planning ahead towards 2015. That may not be the case though as it seems Montgomery may not be back after all.

Montgomery took a brief amount of time off in May, when he had surgery to remove the cancer from his jawbone. Even after the surgery, he remained a presence for the Phillies. In late August, Montgomery took an indefinite leave of absence to undergo treatment for his condition. Pat Gillick has been filling in for Montgomery on an interim basis.
