Movin’ On Up: First-Rounder Nola Promoted to Reading

The Phillies went into this season's draft with a goal to select players that could move quickly through their system. First-round pick Aaron Nola is doing just that. After starting in Clearwater, Nola is reportedly being promoted to Double-A Reading.

Since getting hit around in his first outing on June 23rd, Nola has thrown extremely well. In his first start, he surrendered four earned runs in just 2.1 innings. In his next two starts combined, he gave up just two hits over nine innings of work. 

After giving up three runs and two runs in his next two starts respectively, Nola finished strong in Clearwater, tossing 10 innings in his final two starts, giving up two runs while striking out 12. Overall, he went 2-3 with a 3.16 ERA with the Threshers. His first start in Reading looks to be Wednesday, August 6th at home.
