It has been announced that Phillies pitching prospects Adam Morgan and Shane Watson have undergone shoulder surgery and will miss most of the 2014 season. Shoulder surgery is never something one should enjoy hearing about with a young pitcher. Tommy John surgery may carry longer a longer road to recovery but the results are usually good. Once they start hacking away on the shoulder, it's never good.

The blow is pretty big when considering the depth. Morgan this time last year was considered the first one out of the minors if a pitcher goes down. Injury prevented that and caused Jonathan Pettibone to get the first call while Morgan missed most of the '13 season. Jesse Biddle has received an invite to spring training next month so his time could be coming in 2014.

In other news according to Nick Carfardo of The Boston Globe the Phillies are still showing interest in pitcher Bronson Arroyo as the market is starting to heat up for him as he seeks a three year contract. The Twins and Yankees are also in the mix.

Also The Phillies Room posted of the numbers the Phillies will be wearing in '14 for those interested in that sort of thing. So get those Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez 75 jerseys ordered up.
