In a very abrupt and stunning move, Comcast Spectacor President (and Flyers President) Peter Luukko abruptly resigned today, reports Tim Pannacchio of CSN Philly.

Ed Snider explained that Luukko simply cashed out and headed to pursue other activities.

“Peter has been an invaluable partner as we built Comcast-Spectacor into the phenomenal company that it has become,” said Snider, chairman of Comcast-Spectacor.

“Peter’s leadership was key in helping us build the many businesses that enabled us to become a nationally recognized leader in sports and entertainment. His passion and dedication is legendary in our industry. Peter will be missed, and we wish him the best of luck in his next phase of life.”

Many felt that Luukko would eventually replace founder and chairman Ed Snider down the line.  CFO Dave Scott will replace Luukko.
