Phillies Cut John Lannan, Who Refuses Assignment To Minors

The Phillies got just 14 starts out of John Lannan in 2013 before he went down with an injury. Lannan spent 2012 mostly in the minor leagues, and apparently did not desire to do so again. Tonight the Phillies tried to send him back to minors and he refused:

Lannan went 3-6 with a 5.33 ERA. Lannan had a 1.530 WHIP and pitched past the sixth inning just four times.
Sounds like the Phillies won't miss him much. And the roster purge continues…
