The Phillies' roster got lighter today as the Phillies outrighted four players off of the roster. They were outfielder Roger Bernadina, outfielder Casper Wells, reliever Cesar Jiminez, and reliever J.C. Ramirez.
The Phillies outfield could feature Darin Ruf and Cesar Hernandez as backup outfielders if the Phillies acquire a starting outfielder. John Mayberry Jr. remains on the roster for now, but the Phillies could trade him or non-tender him by the deadline to offer a contract in December. Jiminez and Ramirez could re-sign minor league contracts, but the Phillies could choose to get rid of them.
