The Philadelphia Phillies have placed catcher Carlos Ruiz on the disabled list due to soreness in his lower back. The move is retroactive to April 28. He will likely rejoin the team when the team goes to Atlanta next weekend.
A corresponding move will be made after tonight’s game to replace Ruiz on the 25-man roster.That move is expected to be that righthander Joe Blanton willl be activated off the DL to start Monday night in Florida against the Marlins.
