Joel Embiid cleared of concussion, still no timetable for return

Joel Embiid has been through a rough patch over the last week. An injury last week that fractured the orbital bone of his left eye also gave him a concussion.

After a successful surgery over the weekend, and almost a week removed, Embiid has been cleared of the concussion by an independent doctor, according to the Sixers.

According to the injury report, the surgeons "will determine when it is safe and medically advisable for Embiid to return to play."

After being cleared of the concussion, Embiid's next steps will have him complete non-contact cardiovascular exertion exercises to clear the NBA's concussion protocol.

Most notably, there still is no timetable for Embiid's return to action for the Sixers. However, it can be assumed the target date is still the first game of the first round of the playoffs.

Embiid was present for pre-game shootaround on Friday night prior to the Sixers' Eastern Conference showdown with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

He seems to be in good spirits and shape on his road to recovery and return to a Sixers uniform.
