For Utley, the results further cement the sense that his election is a matter of when, not if. After debuting on the ballot a few years ago, Utley surged to 59.1% in 2026, one of the largest year-over-year jumps on the ballot. The former Phillies second baseman continues to benefit from modern Hall of Fame thinking that emphasizes elite peak performance, positional value, and advanced metrics. Rollins earned 25.4% of the vote in 2026 after a modest showing in 2025. The former Phillies shortstop — a 2007 NL MVP, four-time Gold Glove winner, and World Series champion — continues to gain some traction as voters reassess his durability, leadership, and all-around impact at a premium defensive position. However, Rollins’ hasn’t gained as much ground as many thought. His path to Cooperstown appears longer and more gradual than that of his longtime middle-infield partner.

Together, Utley and Rollins remain emblematic of the Phillies’ golden era, and both are moving closer to baseball’s highest honor. Utley’s case now borders on inevitable, while Rollins’ candidacy continues to build steadily, even if his eventual induction feels further down the road.
