Roman Lyubimov, who the Flyers tended a qualifying offer to last week, has rejected it and will return to his former KHL club.

The addition of Nolan Patrick and the departure of Brayden Schenn may define the Flyers offseason, but their most valuable offseason move may be re-signing Jordan Weal.

GM Ron Hextall officially put a wrap on the free agency period as he addressed the media on Sunday afternoon, looking at the Elliott signing, the goalie situation and where the Flyers stand cap-wise following free agency.

New Flyers goalie Brian Elliott spoke about signing with Philadelphia, saying he’s always loved playing in Philadelphia and doesn’t mind sharing the net with Michal Neuvirth in a tandem.

It was reported by Andy Strickland on Friday that Brian Elliott would sign with the Flyers when free agency opened on Saturday at noon. Elliott has indeed signed with the Flyers to a three-year deal worth $8.25 million, a cap hit of $2.75 million per year.

According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the Flyers have re-signed Mike Vecchione to a two-year deal with a cap hit of $900,000.

For the Flyers this offseason, Ron Hextall has seemingly taken the drama and excitement out of free agency. The Flyers re-signed Jordan Weal two days before the signing period opened. They are expected to make a deal with goalie Brian Elliott official when the signing period opens at noon. And that’s it.

Ron Hextall killed the buzz of Nolan Patrick being at Development Camp by announcing the Flyers top pick would not participate in on-ice activities after having surgery 10 days before the NHL Draft. Immediately, speculation went up about Patrick’s availability for training camp and his chances of making the roster. By having the surgery when he did this offseason, not much changes in regards to Patrick’s immediate future.

In all, 40 prospects will be at Development Camp, hosted at Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees from Friday, July 7 to Wednesday, July 12.
