Day 2 started with a trade for the Flyers, who packaged some later picks to move up in the second. The Flyers traded their second-round pick at 44th overall, a third-round pick at 75th overall and a fourth-round pick at 108th overall for Arizona’s pick at 35th overall. With the 35th overall pick, the Flyers selected winger Isaac Ratcliffe from the Guelph Storm in the OHL.
With Day 2 set to begin with the second round at 10 a.m., here are a few prospects left from Day 1 and projected to go in the middle or later rounds that could be targets for the Flyers.
After the second overall pick for Nolan Patrick went pretty much as expected, the Flyers shook up Day 1 of the NHL Draft with a trade centered around Brayden Schenn to St. Louis for Jori Lehtera, the 27th overall — used to select Morgan Frost — and a conditional first-round pick in 2018. So why do a deal centered around your second-highest scorer from a season ago?
Nolan Patrick, the Brandon Wheat Kings captain and standout forward, was selected by the Flyers with the second overall pick, giving the Flyers a top-of-the-line center. “I kind of had a feeling I was going to end up in Philly, and that’s a place I’d be really excited if I had a chance to go there,” Patrick said.
