Chris Long wins NFLPA’s Byron “Whizzer” White award

Before the Eagles play for the NFL's biggest award on Sunday, they will get to celebrate one of their player being singled out for an honor that is arguably more important. 
 
On Thursday the National Football League's Player Association awarded the Byron "Whizzer" White award to Eagles' defensive end Chris Long:

The award is the NFLPA's version of the NFL's Walter Payton Man of the Year award that is given out to the player who best serves their community. 

After the players voted, Long was deemed to be the most deserving recipient for his donation of all 16 of his game checks for the 2017 season to educational equality in Philadelphia, St. Louis, and Boston – the three cities that he has played for in his NFL career.

Long's recognition comes one year after fellow Eagle Malcolm Jenkins won the award. The NFLPA describes the award as the highest honor a player can receive.
