‘Comeback kids’ take their act on the road to Toronto

Erik Gustafsson scored the game-winning goal in the Flyers' 5-3 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday night, the third straight win for the Flyers.

Matt Read called them the comeback kids. The Flyers are certainly making the third period interesting and exciting. 

After last night's 5-3 win over the Montreal Canadiens, the first time the Flyers had won three straight games, there is a quick turnaround. They travel to Toronto and face the Maple Leafs tonight.

The Flyers were hit with the injury bug again, as Zac Rinaldo left the game after the second period last night and will likely be out for tonight's game. Look for newly-acquired forward Jay Rosehill to make his debut in Rinaldo's place.

Otherwise, don't expect many changes to the Flyers lineup. Ilya Bryzgalov will make another start for the Flyers, even with new backup goalie Steve Mason now with the team.

For the Leafs, look to former Flyers to be the threats. Notably there are James van Riemsdyk and Joffrey Lupul. Lupul has been one of the hottest goal scorers since his return from injury and van Riemsdyk has reinvented himself as a member of the Leafs.

The Leafs do possess scoring depth with Phil Kessel, Clarke MacArthur and Mikhail Grabovski as top forwards. On the back end, the Leafs are led by captain Dion Phaneuf.

James Reimer is now back in goal for the Leafs after suffering an injury against the Flyers earlier this season. However, the Leafs may also start Ben Scrivens who had two great games against the Flyers, winning both.

This is the next step for the Flyers. They closed out their five-game homestand with three wins and seven points in the final four games.

In taking their act on the road, the playoff push will continue away from the raucous environment of the Wells Fargo Center. This is where they can prove that they deserve to be one of eight teams in the playoffs.
