The Dallas Cowboys have blocked the Philadelphia Eagles from interviewing offensive coordinator Klayton Adams for their vacant OC position, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Philadelphia reportedly requested permission to speak with Adams as part of its ongoing search for a new offensive coordinator. Dallas declined the request, exercising its right under NFL rules to prevent a lateral coaching move. While the Eagles could have offered Adams play-calling duties, the official job title would have remained offensive coordinator, allowing the Cowboys to shut down the interview.

Adams, who joined Dallas for the 2025 season, quickly emerged as one of the league’s more respected offensive minds. The Cowboys finished near the top of the NFL in total offense and scoring, making Adams a logical target for teams looking to modernize their offensive approach. That success also explains why Dallas was unwilling to risk losing him, especially to a division rival.

Blocking interview requests is not uncommon across the league, but it’s far less typical when the requesting team is offering increased responsibility. Still, the rules favor the current team in lateral situations, and Dallas chose to use that leverage.

For the Eagles, the denial narrows an already expansive coordinator search and forces the organization to pivot to other candidates. For Cowboys fans, it’s a win, keeping continuity on offense while preventing a rival from potentially upgrading its coaching staff.

For Eagles fans, however, it’s just another reminder of the Cowboys’ willingness to stand in Philadelphia’s way. In a rivalry defined by decades of animosity, this move provides one more reason to hate the Dallas Cowboys.
